Ayan Mukerji was born on 15 August (age 35years) in Kolkata, West Bengal to Amrit and Deb Mukherjee.

He is the grandson of Sashadhar Mukherjee, was a film producer.

He is also the nephew of Joy Mukherjee, first cousin of Kajol and Tanisha Mukherjee and second cousin of Rani Mukerji and part of the larger Mukherjee-Samarth family.

According to media reports, he is dating Mouni Roy.
